Join In launched our ‘Run It’ campaign in 2015 to get more volunteers into the fastest growing sport in the UK. With the support of Join In’s Dave Moorcroft (a former 5,000m world champion) and Jo Pavey (10,000m European champion) we used assets across channels to create a buzz and entice people to lend a hand.
Another Join In campaign, ‘Backing Up Boxing’ was in partnership with England Boxing and aimed to recruit volunteers and match them with clubs in need of help. The visual language of the campaign referenced vintage fight posters, borrowing the language and style, and updating it for social media. The typeface chosen was, of course, Knockout.
As part of the Join In 2014 website redesign, I directed this film about what Join In is and does. Scripted by Paul Allen at Lark Media, produced and designed by Steve Simmonds at Digital Block, with help from the Join In team.
The second edition of the Join In Journal was slimmer but no less packed. It covered a successful year of campaign activity, partnerships with ITV and BBC as well as on the ground impact for the volunteering organisation.
