Join In’s ground-breaking research↑ looked at how behavioural science can persuade more people to give their time and volunteer, with a focus on sport.
Presented in partnership with BT and leading social impact research consultancy Simetrica↑, the report revealed the ‘who’, ‘what’, ‘how’ and most importantly the ‘why’ of volunteering.
The launch in Whitehall was led by Join In Chair Lord Charles Allen and Britain’s most successful Paralympian, and Join In trustee, Tanni Grey-Thompson. Join In patron Eddie Izzard, leading economist and former Cabinet Secretary Lord Gus O’Donnell and Minister for Civil Society Rob Wilson also backed the launch.
The handout provided a summary of the findings from our extensive review and new regression analysis of UK data sets of both volunteering and sport volunteering. In addition we introduced GIVERS – a practical new tool for everyone with an interest in recruiting, managing and retaining volunteers both within sport and beyond it.
