Discovery and UX

I’ve been lucky enough to lead Discovery and UX projects with users as diverse as people living with cancer to Millenials interested in protecting the world from killer AI. From desk research and writing reports to facilitating many workshops, I’ve completed:

  • Discovery reports. Desk research, target audiences and their digital needs, competitor analysis, survey set up and results analysis, Google Analytics overviews. Recommendations for strategy, content, technology, functionality, design, taxonomies, IAs, menus and accessibility.

  • User personas and journeys. Based on surveys results or marketing insight, using a narrative or Think/Feel/Do/Opportunity framework.

  • Workshops. Information Architecture and navigation, audience prioritisation, market gap analysis, content hierarchies, Crazy 8s, How Might We’s and more.

  • Wireframing. Lo-fi content hierarchies to hi-fidelity Figma wireframes for all kinds of templates, user flows and pages.

Balancing the needs of users with organisational strategy has become second nature, with digital workshops often revealing wider challenges. Through empathy and an outsiders’ perspective, I enjoy educating teams in digital and design thinking, exploring options that meet their budgets, and clear ways to prioritise information.

Supporting clients towards more iterative workstreams helps them phase projects and understand that a digital product is never truly ‘finished’. Like a garden, it’s only what you put in that defines the success you get out.
